Hailing from Palmerston North, New Zealand comes The Rising Tide with a short and sweet album in “The Hope We Die For” EP. I don’t know what they have in the water over there and I want some of it because they got the groove going on. “The Hope We Die For” is a hell of a journey with intense musicianship.

The music perfectly accompanies the vocals, bringing a heavy but excellent touch to the deathcore genre.

The Rising Tide proves that the genre isn’t dead yet. This quintet will have you banging your head until your neck hurts.

“Accused” the first track of “The Hope We Die For” is absolutely relentless. From the very first second it pulls you in. It suffocates you with the brutality that comes forth. The vocals stand out to me the most. The vocalist is incredibly gifted with his ability to hit low, high, and everything in between vocals. The music is a perfect backdrop and it ramps up quickly. The chugs, the drums, and the musicianship flowing from The Rising Tide is impeccable.

The next song off “The Hope We Die For” is “Mirage”. With a chugging intro with a great atmosphere, it gets you into the mood to move. The production is off the charts for this EP. Everything comes in clean and clear. The Rising Tide pulls out all the stops for this song. A heavy choral-like section crops up multiple times. And a brutal breakdown won my heart by the middle of the song.

The titular track “The Hope We Die For” is an insane track from start to end. It has the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows all in one 5-minute package. A beautiful piano introduction charges full forward unto a badass track that does The Rising Tide justice in their chosen genre. It has movement, it has technicality, it has speed, and everything you would ever want in a package of music. It has drawn me the most to The Rising Tide’s music personally.

I will have to say that “The Hope We Die For” is my favorite song from the entire album. A breakdown heavier than anything I have ever heard caps off this song and it is an excellent way to end this album. I will be looking forward to hearing more of them in the future because this was a delicious track to hear.

The Rising Tide is an excellent band that needs your attention today. With how they blend their music with sheer brutality and amazing technique they bring out the best in the heavy genres of today. I believe that The Rising Tide will become a household name in only a few short years. With “The Hope We Die For” I think this is a turning point for The Rising Tide, where they will gain a huge following in the coming months.
