This week has seen many exciting things in the metal scene, both mainstage and also in the independent world. One of those things is the release of a new single by Dead Reckoning called “Break Me”. For the initiated Dead Reckoning might as well be a household name having spent the majority of 2023 touring the lower 48, it would be hard to miss them, or perhaps you’ve seen videos of their vocalist Taylor Monroe participating in a “vocal battle” with the likes of Alex Terrible from Slaughter to Prevail and Tom Barber of Chelsea Grin. However if you haven’t crossed paths with this dynamic four-piece independent power house not to fret, their new single “Break Me” is both a breath of fresh air for their dedicated following, the Dead Army, and also a stomp to the face of new comers alike and to add to the awesomeness that is a new single, it comes equipped with a new video filmed by MRSHAMOOZOO Films, who also filmed their video for “Gallows”.

Dead Reckoning

This new song has that familiar Dead Reckoning heavy bounce, with spot on riffage and fat bass lines, to hard hitting drums and monstrous vocals. Everything we expect, but it also has an almost blackened element to it, and while the lyrics seem dark at first, you quickly realize this is an anthem. It digs into the lines of addictions, and in my opinion for what that’s worth, it seems to show both sides of it all the while exclaiming that through either perspective, they refuse to let it dominate them. Of course by they, I also mean us. Let’s take both a listen and watch.
