As a metal fan and journalist, attending shows is more than just entertainment—it’s a pilgrimage. The 2024 tour season features a lineup that spans genres and generations. Here’s why Gojira, Lorna Shore, Megadeth, Slipknot, Metallica, Architects, The Devil Wears Prada, Wage War, Fit For An Autopsy, and I Prevail make my dream wish list for must-see shows.
1. Gojira: As we have just witnessed with the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, Gojira’s live performances are renowned for their technical precision and powerful presence. Their blend of death metal with progressive elements creates a unique atmosphere that’s both brutal and beautiful. Gojira is accompanying Korn as their special guests with Spiritbox.

2. Lorna Shore: Lorna Shore has been making waves with their symphonic deathcore sound, especially with the addition of vocalist Will Ramos. Their energetic live shows and complex compositions make them one of my favorites and land them in the top of band performances I most wish to experience. This tour is especially notable with Lorna Shore playing the “Pain Remains” album in entirety.

3. Megadeth: Megadeth is the first show I attended in 2021 following my late husband’s death from cancer. Dave Mustaine spoke about his experience with cancer during the VIP meet and greet, which I felt was inspirational. A profound memory of the event includes encouragement from Mustaine to take risks and cherish life. The 2024 Megadeth tour includes Mudvayne and All That Remains.
4. Slipknot: 25th anniversary – Here Comes The Pain Tour. Featuring support by Knocked Loose and Orbit Culture on Leg 1 and Vended for Leg 2.
5. Metallica: Few bands can rival the global influence of Metallica. Their “M72 World Tour” is a testament to their enduring appeal, drawing fans old and new. The 2024 tour also features Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, and Ice Nine Kills.
